Transitioning Expenses: The Cost of FTM Transition
Below I have charted the costs of beginning hormones and having surgery. Please keep in mind that these transition expenses are what I paid and are not intended to represent the average cost of FTM transition.
Please note that many of the expenses were insurance copay. Insurance covered the doctors appointments but not the testosterone. I did not include personal expenses (such as kenneling the dog, etc) in the chest surgery fees. The hysterectomy was covered under private health insurance due to a confirmed diagnosis of Stage IV cervical dysplasia.
